Junior, Intermediate and Practitioner Members are required to have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
Evidence of insurance must be shown when renewing membership.
Our members can obtain Practitioner Cover provided they have
reached at least Certificate in Practical Shiatsu.
Cover includes, but is not limited to, Professional Indemnity,
Public Liability, Products Liability, Libel and Slander.
This is Practitioner, not student, insurance and you can
include - at no extra cost - therapies in which you are qualified, such as cranio-sacral,
reiki, reflexology, other massage and shiatsu techniques e.g. Hara Shiatsu (chi nei
tsang).
The
proposal form is short and simple and the premiums reasonable. To apply for
insurance simply activate
your membership (click for how) and tell us you are interested in insurance.
When we send your Certificate of Membership we will enclose the Application form which you
must send direct to the insurers..
Shiatsu
falls into insurance Rate Band 1 with levels and costs of indemnity in the region of £100
for £1 million worth of cover. The insurers will provide you with details of other
options.:
Teachers
can also purchase insurance to cover their liabilities in training.
Your
Professional Liability Insurance provides cover for:
Professional
Indemnity: cover for the risk of being sued for an error in your professional
activities (getting it wrong!)
Public
Liability: cover for your liability for the death of or injury to third parties or for
loss or damage to their property (getting it very wrong?)
Product
Liability: cover for your liability for injury loss or damage caused by products
supplied (not many shiatsu people need this but its part of the package and might be
useful one day...somehow...)
Libel
and Slander: provides cover to defend you (court costs, legal fees etc)
against allegations of defamation (accusations of professional misconduct etc)
